Stronger gearbox and five-year warranty for new generation rotary mowers

Europe’s leading producer of rotary mowers, Spearhead has launched an upgraded gearbox for its new Multicut 470 and 630 models. Sold with a five-year warranty, Spearhead customers will welcome this enhanced assurance of quality.

Designed by Spearhead in the UK, the agricultural machinery company has every right to be proud of its new gearbox. Launched following many improvements - directly drawn from customer feedback - it joins a raft of enhancements for the new Multicut machines.

Delivering up to 50% more power when required, the horsepower rating has increased from 111 to 165HP. Oversized shafts and gears are also increased in stature by up to 30%, adding to the capability of the gearbox, even in the toughest of applications.

A key improvement concerns protection for the vulnerable lower seal. Whilst many manufacturers fail to protect this seal, Spearhead sees it as critical to prevent costly damage to one of the most expensive components of the rotary mower.

“Low to the ground, it’s all too easy for grass and debris to wind around the shaft, risking potentially fatal damage to the lower seal. Should the seal break and oil leakage occur, the gearbox can be rendered useless. This is a potentially critical problem to face. Able to modify our own designs in-house, we’ve addressed this concern, seen on all makes of rotary mower, once and for all,” says Neil Warren, Chief Design Engineer at Spearhead.

With full confidence in the new design, Spearhead now provides a five-year warranty on the gearbox – a further testament to the longevity of Multicut rotary mowers.
