LEXION 6000 and 5000: A new dimension of straw walker performance
The new LEXION 6000 and 5000 are equipped with the all-new APS SYNFLOW WALKER threshing unit.
With the APS SYNFLOW WALKER, the LEXION 6000 and 5000 set new standards for the threshing and separation performance of straw-walker combine harvesters. The all-new threshing unit features a 450 mm pre-accelerator drum, a 755 mm threshing drum with ten rasp bars and an additional separator drum with a diameter of 600 mm ahead of the impeller. The width of the unit is 1,700 mm in the 6000-series models and 1,420 mm in the 5000-series models. The large drum diameters create low contact angles of 132° (threshing drum) and 116° (separator drum). These characteristics, together with the synchronisation of the drum speeds, enable a straight, gentle and fuel-saving crop flow. The resulting active separation areas measure 3.18 m2 and 2.66 m2 respectively.
For fast adaptation to all crop types and operating conditions, all the threshing concave segments are adjusted hydraulically and in parallel in CEBIS. An overload protection system provides protection against blockages. A concave bar can be pivoted into the crop flow ahead of the threshing drum. This allows the aggressiveness of the unit to be controlled extremely precisely, for reliable deawning in barley, for example. As with all other threshing unit parameters, the control system for the bar is integrated in CEMOS AUTOMATIC. All the concave segments are accessible from the side and can be replaced easily. With drum speeds of between 160 and 920 rpm, APS SYNFLOW WALKER is suitable for all threshing crops.
Secondary separation is performed by six straw walkers in the LEXION 6000 and by five straw walkers in the LEXION 5000, all of which are 3,800 mm long. The respective straw walker areas are 6.46 m2 and 5.40 m2.
JET STREAM cleaning and new QUANTIMETER
The new straw-walker models are equipped with the JET STREAM cleaning system familiar from the existing LEXION hybrid combine harvesters. The system works with six or eight turbine fans, depending on the model. A dual ventilated step performs intensive pre-cleaning. The long flow compensation channel delivers a high-pressure airflow to the sieves. The sieves and fan can be adjusted electrically from the cab. With the 3D function, the cleaning system can actively compensate for side slopes of up to 20 %.
The new QUANTIMETER works with an impact plate at the grain elevator delivery point and measures the yield without requiring the thousand grain weight. Only one calibration process is required annually per crop type and this can be performed from the cab. As the various calibration factors for different crop types can be stored very easily, crop type changes can be performed quickly.
New dimensions for grain tank and unloading tube
With grain tank volumes of between 9,000 and 13,500 litres, the new LEXION 6000 and 5000 can be equipped optimally for every application. The grain tank can now be accessed easily and safely from the rear. This means, for example, that the auger baffle plates can now be adjusted for changing conditions and crop types very quickly without tools. An optional unloading assistance feature, which is available for crops such as grass, which have a tendency to cause bridging, guarantees reliable unloading, even under difficult conditions.
Seven different unloading tubes up to 12 m long and with throughput rates between 110 l/s and 130 l/s are available. In addition, a version with 180 l/s is available for the LEXION 6900. In order to enable precise filling of the transport vehicles, the unloading rate for this version can be halved to 90 l/s. A hydraulically actuated dry clutch modulates the unloading drives for a gentle start-up. When unloading is stopped, the feed augers in the grain tank are automatically deactivated first in order to empty the unloading tube completely, thereby reducing significantly the weight load and the degree of wear.
The unloading tube of the new LEXION has a forward pivot angle of 105°. This means that the operator has an excellent view of the unloading process from the cab.
Intuitive operation and more comfort
The new LEXION cab design provides the operator with a state-of-the-art workplace with more space and improved sound insulation. A clear operating concept with the CEBIS terminal makes it possible to work intuitively with the machine. The most important functions are integrated in the armrest where they are clearly laid out. The armrest and the CEBIS terminal can be adjusted independently of each other to meet the operator's needs. For an optimal view of the front attachment, the terminal can also be moved all the way to the right where it is out of the field of view. A new steering column also allows the steering wheel to be adjusted optimally to suit the operator.
The operator has three ways of adjusting the machine settings: via the CEBIS touchscreen, with the rotary/push switch on the CEBIS control panel, or by using the side buttons on the armrest for direct access. The new, ergonomic C-MOTION ground speed control lever places all the principal functions for the front attachment and the unloading process at the operator's fingertips. It is also possible for the operator to switch between different CEBIS views without having to remove their hand from the lever.
Many functions, such as the speed reduction for the threshing drum or the straw chopper, can be actuated from the cab. Fast changeovers for handling a very wide range of crops are also made easier by the straightforward procedure for replacing threshing concave elements.
Precision through advanced technology
Once again in the new LEXION, CEMOS AUTOMATIC adjusts the machine settings automatically for optimal throughput and top threshing quality. New functions of the LEXION, such as the threshing concave flap and the concave bar, are integrated in the system and are therefore also under automatic control.
The new electronic architecture includes the laser-based FIELD SCANNER which steers the machine along the edge of the crop to the left or right or along the tramline. Integrated in the cab roof, it uses the signal from the automatic front attachment detection function to adjust its response in accordance with the CLAAS front attachment fitted. The FIELD SCANNER hardware comes from the automotive sector where it is widely used.
The new LEXION can, of course, also use TELEMATICS for optimal integration in the farm management software.
New engines with DYNAMIC POWER
The new LEXION 6000 and 5000 models are equipped with MAN and Mercedes-Benz engines in accordance with the CLAAS POWER SYSTEMS concept. They develop outputs between 507 hp/373 kW in the LEXION 6900 and 313 hp/230 kW in the LEXION 5300. Compliance with the Stage V emission standard is ensured through the use of diesel particulate filters and SCR catalytic converters.
DYNAMIC POWER is now also available in the LEXION and adjusts the engine output flexibly in accordance with the operating conditions. This involves the flexible use of different engine power curves. When the power requirement is low, a lower curve is selected; if the power requirement increases, during unloading, for example, the system switches to a higher curve to make more power available. This flexible adjustment leads to significant fuel savings whenever maximum output is not required.
The new drive concept of the LEXION is designed for maximum reliability. It requires fewer belt drives, all the variators have been reinforced and can be connected to the central lubrication system. DYNAMIC COOLING is available for all LEXION models and provides uniform cooling while reducing the cleaning effort required for the air filter.
With REMOTE SERVICE, the operator receives optimal, immediate support to keep any downtime as short as possible.
Almost all the new LEXION 6000 models are available with suspended TERRA TRAC crawler tracks and a 40 km/h top speed for maximum soil protection and comfort in the field and fast transport. A five straw-walker machine, the LEXION 5500 TERRA TRAC, is now also available with this technology which protects the soil. The wheeled machines can be fitted with tyres up to a diameter of 2.15 m (42 inches) on the front axle and up to 1.75 m (30 inches, depending on model) on the rear axle.
