CLAAS and Trimble: Strategic cooperation for the new generation of CLAAS steering systems

Dissen/Harsewinkel/München, August 2022. CLAAS and Trimble have jointly developed a new generation of GPS PILOT steering systems for CLAAS tractors, combine harvesters and forage harvesters. This is already available for the CLAAS TRION in combination with the new CEMIS 1200 terminal and is now being rolled out to other product areas and series such as LEXION, ARION, AXION and JAGUAR.

When developing the latest generation of GNSS based track guidance systems, CLAAS has entered into a strategic cooperation with the world's leading provider Trimble Inc. The joint development includes the areas of satellite-based steering as well as precision farming and the ISOBUS infrastructure including task management. In addition, Trimble supplies the SAT 900 GNSS receiver specially specified for the new generation of CLAAS GPS PILOT. "Trimble, as an experienced, innovative and globally represented provider of steering systems, was our first choice for a strategic cooperation," explains Dr. Carsten Hoff, Managing Director of CLAAS E-Systems. “Trimble steering systems have been proven over many years in many regions of the world and offer highly accurate, reliable guidance and numerous functions such as globally available satellite and correction services, but also transmission and planning of guidance lines. In addition, Trimble - supported by the subsidiary Müller-Elektronik - brings excellent competence in the areas of ISOBUS and task management, which ideally complement our own competences and technologies".

Stephan Vormbrock, Managing Director Market & Administration at CLAAS E-Systems, continues: "As a globally active manufacturer of agricultural machinery, we rely on Trimble as a technology partner who is represented in more than 40 countries with its own locations and therefore has the same international mindset and culture approach possesses like CLAAS. It is an invaluable advantage for our customers to get technology from providers who know the different market needs inside out.”

The area of documentation with CLAAS TELEMATICS, CLAAS connect and the connection to 365FarmNet will continue to be developed exclusively by CLAAS. Previously available interfaces such as DataConnect and CLAAS APIs to external platforms such as Climate FieldView or OMNIA will also be adopted. The CEMIS 1200 ISOBUS terminal with a 12-inch touch display developed by CLAAS and Trimble for the new generation of steering systems will replace the previously available S10 terminal. After initially being introduced for the TRION in summer 2021, CEMIS 1200 will now be available on the ARION and AXION tractors, LEXION combine harvesters and JAGUAR forage harvesters from CLAAS.

The custom steering system developed in partnership with Trimble will be offered exclusively on CLAAS machines and cannot be used on self-propelled agricultural machines from other manufacturers. Sales and service are provided exclusively via the worldwide CLAAS sales and dealer network.
